capacity of local institutions to sustainably manage the environment and natural resources. The
Bachelor Science in Community Development degree programme has been designed to develop
the practicing and non-practicing cadres to acquirer knowledge which is key to their future career
and academic advancement.

The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism has been introduced at the University of Lilongwe in
response to the shortage of professionally trained personnel in journalism. Students
pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism degree at the University of Lilongwe will take
advantage of an exciting blend of professional and academic journalism training. Our
degree combines academic communications theory and practice with hands-on training in
media writing, radio, video and online media production and media relations. A wide range
of skills catered to the demands of the journalism industry are offered. With these skills,
our graduates are being prepared to enter fields like international communications, media
regulation and public policy, print, broadcast, and online journalism, media, and public
relations.

Procurement and supply chain management is fast becoming a very important area of study in the current
competitive business landscape as it plays a vital role in organizational success. Procurement allows
organisations both in the public and private sector to get the right products at the right time, in the right
quantities, and at the right prices. The Bachelor of Science degree in Procurement and Supply Chain
Management programme is meant to develop and enhance the competence and knowledge that candidates
need in order for them to be effective, accountable, economical and efficient in the way those they manage
the strategic and organizational operations competitively. The program focuses on the core skills and is work
oriented so as to deliver the program with more emphasis on practical aspects of the purchasing function and
innovative approach to issues that are relevant in today’s business environment. Considering the
environment and the needs of the target groups, the program is designed in a modular format to allow for
structured professional progression.
