Internal Auditing plays a very crucial role in providing risk management assurance and ensuring governance and internal control processesare effectively being implemented in both public and private companies and organisations. Internal auditing processes help to provide mechanisms for detecting violations of laws and regulations. The demand for well trained and professionally skilled internal audit personnel is very high in the country and beyond. The University of Lilongwe has developed a Bachelor of Science Degree in Internal Auditing aimed at providing training in the Auditing field. The programme has been developed on seeing that the Institute of Internal Auditors in Malawi had indicated that there is a shortage of qualified internal auditors, and to be in line with the good corporate governance in both the public and private sectors. University of Lilongwe presents what will enhance corporate excellence through internal auditing programme. Students will have an option to specialize in Internal Auditing from year three. Therefore, the BSc in Internal Auditing will assist in developing students as well as satisfying internal and international demands for highly qualified and relevant professionals in auditing.
