Abstract
People (human resources) are the most important asset of any organization. Managing an organization’s people is often the most challenging and complex task required of a manager. The objective of the course is to teach the basic principles of strategic human resource management how an organization acquires, rewards, motivates, uses, and generally manages its people effectively. In addition to providing a basic legal and conceptual framework for managers, the course will introduce the students to practices and techniques for evaluating performance, structuring teams, coaching and mentoring people, and performing the wide range of other people related duties of a manager in today’s increasingly complex workplace. Human Resource Management, or HRM, involves coordinating, managing, and allocating human capital, or employees, in ways that move an organization's goals forward. HRM focuses on investing in employees, ensuring their safety, and managing all aspects of staffing from hiring to compensation and management.
